THE ART OF MAKING DO
A solid steel hinge notebook made with vintage stationary: a beautiful blue and pink ledger paper. Consists of a complete set including two refills, three booklets in total; each custom made to the hinge with their own set of hooks and o-rings. 160 pages in each booklet, each booklet a different orientation.
notebook made from secondhand: hinge, vintage accounting ledger paper, vintage file folders, steel wire, brown paper bags, vintage accounting paper
and: shock cord, heat shrink tubing, rubber o rings, glue, stainless steel o rings, metal grommets
These are made by creating custom inserts for the hinge that allow the booklet to wrap and hook into place inside the hinge, moving with the hinge as it opens and closes. These booklets use a perfect bind with mull cloth and archival book glue, made into a semi-hardcover booklet that fits perfectly inside the hinge, pressed so the paper in the booklet can absorb some of the extra space left by the elastic and grommets, and stays there until you want to refill/exchange it. Layers of paper, stationary, and mull cloth make up the cover and allow the booklet to have integrity; this helps when metal and paper meet. the hinge edges are sanded down to limit friction, fraying, and to make it smooth to the touch.

items are handmade, please allow for uniqueness. i work with metal and paper, and sometimes the booklets get some machine oil from the hinge onto the spine/booklet; this does not affect utility and is unavoidable, as these are still industrial materials and hinges are supposed to have a little lubricant inside the moving parts.
shipping costs are calculated based on package weight and destination. duties and taxes are not included in the checkout price.
